Nissan’s Infiniti Secures Stephen Curry as Global Brand Ambassador
Infiniti Motor Co., Nissan’s luxury brand, recently announced its global partnership with National Basketball Association (NBA) two-time Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry. Fresh off his second NBA championship, Curry is set to appear in Infiniti’s global product and brand marketing communications campaigns.
Curry and Infiniti – a perfect match
According to Infiniti, Curry’s latest championship, along with his other outstanding achievements, are the perfect embodiment of the luxury car brand’s new brand positioning, ‘Empower the Drive.’
"Stephen Curry's drive to continue to set new benchmarks both on and off the court is an ideal parallel to the attributes of the Infiniti brand," said Roland Krueger, Chairman and Global President of the Infiniti Motor Company. “Just like Infiniti, he never stops pushing himself. This partnership celebrates a shared drive to continue to change the game.”
In his first Infiniti campaign, the Golden State Warriors point guard will promote the redesigned Infiniti Q50 flagship sports sedan that’s due to be launched worldwide in August. The campaign, which includes TV commercials, will appear in China, U.S., and other major markets to coincide with the launch.
"The U.S. is our biggest market and China is our biggest growth market, so partnering with Mr. Curry is a great way to reach consumers around the world in an authentic way,” Krueger said.
Infiniti hopes Curry’s presence will help the brand enhance its success in the entry-level luxury sedan segment.
A true NBA champion
Aside from being a two-time MVP and winning two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors, Curry is a four-time NBA All-Star and was the NBA’s leading scorer in 2016. He was also named as the Male Athlete of the Year in 2016.
These achievements, along with Curry’s strong ambition to be at the top of his profession, is why Infiniti chose the professional basketball player to be their global brand ambassador.
