What is the AMH Philippines' gross vehicle weight limit recommendation on the Candaba Viaduct?
The gross vehicle weight limit on the Candaba Viaduct portion is 33 tons. What areas along the NLEX-SCTEX stretch have put up anti-stoning ordinances within their jurisdiction?
Per NLEX Corporation, the Municipalities of Dinalupihan in Bataan, Floridablanca, Pampanga and Hermosa, Bataan and the City of Mabalacat in Pampanga have already approved an anti-stoning ordinance within their respective jurisdiction.During a forum led by key local government officials of Bulacan, the tollway operator discussed its role in guaranteeing the safety of road users by keeping the roads and bridges in tip-top condition. The company discussed its heightened efforts against overloading.
“Overloaded vehicles pose safety hazards and cause premature deterioration of roads and bridges. We are seeking the help of our partners in the government to boost overall public safety through the joint implementation of the anti-overloading law for a safer, smoother, and stronger infrastructure,” NLEX Corporation President and General Manager Luigi Bautista was quoted as saying.
The NLEX Corporation said that it has been applying the anti-overloading provision stated in Republic Act 8794, which entails both axle and gross vehicle weight limits. The aforementioned law cites that a penalty shall be imposed on vehicles that exceed the permissible single axle load of 13.5 metric tons or go above the maximum allowable gross vehicle weight.
Further, the tollway firm has been briefing several local government units (LGU) in Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan and Tarlac on the procedures that patrol crews and traffic marshals abide by in implementing the anti-overloading program.
It also provided developmental updates at the Candaba Viaduct. To ensure that road users meet the 33-ton gross vehicle weight limit recommendation of the AMH Philippines ( the toll road operator’s engineering consultant), the NLEX Corporation said that strict measures are being enforced. The initiative being done at the link between Pampanga and Bulacan is to preserve the structure while repair operation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the NLEX Corporation shared that the Municipality of Dinalupihan in Bataan recently passed an ordinance that would help deter accidents caused by stoning and other prohibited acts within its jurisdiction. On the other hand, the City of Meycauayan has lined up the same ordinance for passage.
The two government units recognized the dangers of the activities, which are usually committed by minors. They were further encouraged to release a regulation following the orientation on the integrated care management protocol (ICMP) that equipped them to better handle cases involving children at risk and children in conflict with the law.
Further, the Municipalities of Floridablanca, Pampanga and Hermosa, Bataan and the City of Mabalacat in Pampanga also approved an anti-stoning ordinance.
“We thank our LGU partners for passing the ordinance that supports our commitment to the safety of our motorists and our host communities. We expect to continue working harmoniously for the benefit of the public,” Bautista said.
“Through the years, the company has always been on the lookout on the needs of communities and established partnerships with various stakeholders as it pursues road safety and efficient infrastructure improvements,” the NLEX Corporation noted.
