NLEX Corp. lauds Pampanga truckers for anti-overloading law compliance

The weight limit for the aforementioned expressway stretch is 33 tons.The initiative came upon following the dialogue yesterday (August 19, 2022) with Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda, representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and NLEX Corporation.
With that, sand-carrying 10-wheeler trucks with cut sidings that follow the RA 8794 and 33-ton weight limit with hauling passes issued by the Pampanga provincial government will be allowed to enter North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
“We need to respect ‘yong tamang timbang…even if kumikita ang province, marami namang nasasayang na pera yearly kahit sa national dahil sa mga nasisirang daan (We need to respect the right weight limit...even if the province is making money, a lot is wasted annually, even in the national level, because of damaged roads), Pineda was quoted as saying.
According to the NLEX Corporation, sand-carrying trucks with 12 wheels and more with cut sidings and hauling passes can proceed, provided that they are compliant with the 33-ton weight limit. The aforementioned types of trucks will be weighed prior to entering the expressway.
For other 12-wheelers and up, NLEX is continuously coordinating with trucking companies and organizations to address their concerns.
“We are grateful for Governor Pineda and our trucking stakeholders in Pampanga for starting this initiative for other LGUs to follow,” NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista said.
Further, tollway operator will continue to implement the 33-ton weight limit on the Candaba Viaduct and enforce the anti-overloading law in the entire NLEX-SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway), as affirmed by the DPWH and the Department of Transportation (DOTr). The move is aimed at preserving the long-term viability of the structure, allow the repair of the observed damage to its deck and girders, as well as assure the safety of motorists.
