Land Rover announced that two Defender cars — one used for the James Bond film "No Time to Die" and another built with the same specifications as the vehicles used in the movie — were able to raise a total amount of £352,800 (or P23.053 million) at a charity auction staged to mark 60 years of James Bond films.
The specially-modified Defender 110 stunt car was sold for £189,000 (P12.355 million). The lot had the unique VIN (vehicle identification number) 007 and was one of the 10 Defenders used during filming. The proceeds, according to Land Rover, will be used by the British Red Cross to support their crucial humanitarian efforts.
Meanwhile, the Defender 110 V8 Bond Edition created by SV Bespoke and inspired by the specification of the Defenders featured in "No Time To Die" was sold for £163,800 (P10.684 million). The funds will assist the charity, Tusk, to amplify the impact of progressive conservation initiatives across Africa, which protect endangered species, safeguard biodiversity and empower local communities. Just 300 Bond Editions were available worldwide and the UK-spec example has a unique “60 Years of Bond” logo etched on the instrument panel end cap.
The Sixty Years of James Bond sale featured 60 lots in total. The Defenders were among 25 lots auctioned live by Christie’s and EON Productions.
