'Number coding' to be implemented in MM amid class, work suspension on Aug. 25

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will not suspend the expanded unified vehicular volume reduction program (UVVRP) — commonly known as number coding scheme — on Friday (August 25).

    As part of the preparations for the said sports meet, the MMDA has set up a multi-agency command center (MACC) to give way to a faster and more coordinated traffic management response.

    Further, the agency also shared that road works (reblocking, utility works, pipe laying, road upgrading, excavation works) in Metro Manila are temporarily suspended effective midnight of August 17 (Thursday) up to midnight of September 10 (Sunday).

    In addition, the MMDA also prohibited establishments along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and other areas affected by the FIBA World Cup 2023 to conduct mall-wide sales to ensure that all affected roads will remain passable, clean, safe, and serviceable to all types of vehicles and pedestrians during the said period.

    Earlier, the MMDA said that it will implement intermittent stops on key areas EDSA, Kalayaan Avenue, Diokno Boulevard, Roxas Boulevard, Andrews Avenue, Sales Road and other FIBA routes, as delegates and players arrive for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
