With the popularity of of 4x4 SUVs, pickups, and campsites, the outdoor lifestyle is getting more traction.
“Kung walang checkpoints, maraming mago-off-road (if there are no checkpoints, many would do off-roading),” Wheel Gallery President and Chief Executive Officer Samuel Liuson said.
In an interview, Liuson noted that overlanding activities give one’s family more breathing room outside their residences while providing more outdoor activities for the whole household.
“We are promoting the off-road/overlanding lifestyle because of the low risk for families when they're in the open air and isolated areas. If you are under the sun, you’re under natural UV protection,” he told Carmudi Philippines.
Aside from that, Liuson also claimed that doing such is a more creative way of keeping to one's bubble to bask in the ambience of the great outdoors. “It goes counter to being indoors with COVID-19 risk, which is the best and safest recreational activity for the whole family—as long as you maintain your bubble and not invite others.”
“Whether you’re camped in the boondocks or along the beach, you’re away from virus-rich environments,” he added.
Being one of the most visible brands in terms of vehicle modification, Black Rhino promotes the off-roading and overlanding lifestyle to beat the possible mental effects of being confined to the four corners for our homes due to the threat of the COVID-19.
Liuson shared that the first part of a 4x4 unit that will be replaced to make it suitable for overlanding and off-roading are the rims since aftermarket rims satisfy the need for form and function.
“Usually, the first thing guys change are their rims because aftermarket rims are wider and have a better stance, plus they look very good—especially if you update to all-terrain, rugged terrain or mud terrain tires.”
