Omoda’s flagship electric vehicle (EV), the Omoda 5 EV, made its global debut alongside the Jaecoo 7.
During an event held in China, nearly 400 people — including dealers, media outlets, and partners from 67 countries and regions around the world — became witnesses to the world premiere of new vehicles from the Chery International-owned brands.
The Omoda 5 EV is positioned as a vehicle for car buyers looking for “personalized, dynamic, technological, and fashionable travel experiences.”
On the other hand, the Jaecoo 7 is aimed at those in the market for “an urban off-road SUV, specifically designed for urban elites with extraordinary style.”
To note, the Omoda 5’s internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart will soon make it to Philippine shores as the automotive brand already confirmed its arrival later this year. The ICE model is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with a maximum power output of 197 horsepower and maximum torque of 290 Newton meters.
However, in a separate interview with Carmudi Philippines, Omoda Philippines Brand Head John Ezekiel Asuncion shared that aside from the turbocharged Omoda 5 and Jaecoo 7, the company shall also bring in the electrified vehicle offering once it has officially launched the two brands in the local market.
