Omoda Philippines is confident that its upcoming initial offering will be considered one of the safest vehicles in the local market today.
In a statement, the Chinese automaker’s local subsidiary said that in manufacturing the Omoda 5, build quality has been prioritized — which aims to deliver a safe vehicle for future customers.
The company also said that the Omoda 5 (which was built in a superfactory where nearly all operations automated and powered by robotics) underwent a crash test inside its own headquarters where the vehicle was subjected to multiple simulations at different angles and speeds.
To add, it also passed its stringent in-house NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) reduction processes.
Per Omoda Philippines, the studies and processes conducted on the vehicle helped the model receive a five-star rating from the assessors in the European New Car Assessment Program.
“The Omoda 5's success in the most rigorous Euro NCAP test is attributable to its emphasis on users' interests and its own highest pursuit of quality. The crossover SUV has catered to the key demands of global consumers from the R and D (research and development) and design stage. It has not only made great advancements in body structure, safety configuration and other aspects, but also carried out adaptive development verification in different environments and road conditions around the world,” Omoda’s arm in the country noted.
Further, the firm said that the forthcoming vehicle’s body is mostly made up of high-strength steel. Its cage body has been designed and manufactured to maintain its overall structure without deformation in case of a collision. As for the cabin, the Omoda 5 is equipped with seven airbags — including the driver and passenger seats, side airbag, side curtain and middle airbag, which can provide all-round safety protection for occupants in the event of a road crash.
Moreover, the Philippine distributor said that the Omoda 5 is also fitted with a myriad of advanced driver assist systems such as the following:
As mentioned earlier, Omoda and its sister brand Jaecoo will be officially launched in the Philippines come the final quarter of 2023. The Omoda 5 will be one of the first models to be introduced, with indicative pricing of below P1.5 million for the gasoline-engine-powered variant.
