Omoda retails more than 147k units globally in 2023

    According to the Chinese automotive marque, its new energy strategic plan has caught attention, which brought in endorsements from governments in the region.

    The company shared that in December last year, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Anhui Province (China) Deputy Governor Shan Xiangqian lauded the Omoda E5 and its technologies during the model’s roll-off ceremony.

    Also, Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz also acknowledged Omoda’s accomplishments in its country and the contributions to the new energy sector after receiving a unit as a gift.

    Further, Omoda recalled that then Consul General of the Republic of Philippines in Shanghai Josel Francisco Ignacio recognized the Omoda 5’s design aesthetics and comfortable driving features after test drive it in China.

    In November 2023, Chery International General Manager for Eastern Europe and Asia Pacific Jeff Liu along with other executives met with Department of Trade and Industry-Industry Development Group Undersecretary Dr. Ceferino Rodolfo. Both parties engaged in extensive discussions regarding Omoda’s development in the Philippines and future strategic planning for new energy.

    Relatedly, Omoda also had numerous brand initiatives in the Philippines prior to its awaited official launch. The projects include the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Banco de Oro to deliver financial services to consumers in the country.

    Omoda claimed for 2024 it will augment its presence in the Philippines with the introduction of products locally — one of which would be the Omoda 5 EV.

    “Looking into the future, Omoda will remain true to its founding purpose and build upon its presence in the Philippines. It will further accelerate the advancement of its new energy strategy, contributing fresh impetus to the green and sustainable development of not only the Philippines but the entire Southeast Asian region,” Omoda noted.
