Volvo Philippines continues its support for the
Chosen Children Foundation through the
annual Crayfish Party at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza this September 14, 2019. Through a partnership with the
Nordic Chamber of Commerce (NordCham), Volvo once again figured as a proud ally in raising funds for the foundation.
The past four years have seen numerous groups and individuals pitching in for the mentally and physically challenged children in the Chosen Children Village. It has
raised PHP1.4 million for the daily operations of the home and enhancing the living conditions of its residents.
Party with a Purpose
The festivity was filled with people wanting to contribute to the cause.
Guests were treated to a Viking-themed party complete with bountiful servings of crayfish and other traditional Nordic and Scandic fare. A tribute to the Swedish pop band ABBA performed by the Silk band and chart-topping hits spun by DJ Yuki also filled the air with electrifying vibes.
Along with the country's glam set, the striking good looks of
two Swedish plug-in hybrids also turned heads. The stunning
Volvo S90 estate and the muscular
Volvo XC60 midsize SUV stood in effortless elegance, confident in the fact that its
T8 Twin Engines can allow people to drive fast in a fuel-efficient manner. What's better, these Volvos help cut down emissions especially if driving in Pure electric mode.
Cars and Crayfish
Scandinavian heritage aside, Volvo cars also share an uncanny connection with crayfish.
It is said that Volvo founders have toyed with the idea of making the first Swedish car over servings of crayfish in 1924. Since then, Volvo has gone miles ahead and has become one of the global automotive industry leaders with class-leading innovations, life and earth-saving inventions, and a clear focus on electrification and sustainable mobility.
Influenced by
Omtanke--a Swedish word that means "caring" and "consideration," but also importantly "to think again"--Volvo continues to find ways to create cars that protect people and the world around them. As part of a promise to have electric cars making up 50 percent of Volvo sales by 2025, Volvo Philippines has brought in the first plug-in hybrids in the country.
This year, Volvo enthusiasts can now enjoy driving Volvo's Plug-in Hybrids with the
S90, XC60, and XC90 T8 Twin Engine variants. Powerful yet fuel-efficient, these vehicles offer superb road handling and performance paired with a clean conscience.
Whether it's helping save the environment, make roads safer, or providing aid to children, Volvo stays true to its promise of putting people first.
