Standing side by side, the Ford Transit appears to be the larger of the two passenger vans. Its larger exterior dimensions translate to larger interior space. Its longer wheelbase also means that it offers a more comfortable ride as the wheels have a longer gap when driving through road bumps and potholes.
Both vans ride on 16-inch tires.
In terms of features, the Maxus V80 comes with halogen headlights, fog lamps front and back, an electrically adjustable exterior mirror, a passenger-side sliding door, rear dual swing-out doors, and an electric step board.
Similarly, the Ford Transit features multi-reflector halogen headlamps with DRLs, a set of front fog lamps, a passenger-side sliding door, power side mirrors, rear dual swing-out doors, and a power stepboard.
Although both vans are neck and neck in this round, we give the win to the Ford Transit thanks to its larger exterior dimensions.
Inside, the Maxus V80 comes with fabric seats, a four-spoke urethane steering wheel, front and rear A/Cs, and a standard radio unit.
Likewise, the Ford Transit offers fabric seats, a urethane steering wheel, manual A/C with rear climate control, and a standard audio unit.
While both passenger vans seem to have identical interior amenities, the Ford Transit edges the Maxus V8 in terms of seating capacity as the former has seats for 15 passengers while the latter only has 13.
That said, this round goes to the Ford Transit.
The Maxus V80 packs a 2.5-liter turbo diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission which makes 134 horses and 330Nm of torque.
On the other hand, the Ford Transit is equipped with a small 2.2-liter diesel powerplant mated to a six-speed manual transmission that puts out 133 horses and 385Nm of torque.
With a more powerful engine, this round goes to the Maxus V80.
In terms of safety, the Maxus V80 features a suite of airbags and seatbelts, ABS and EBD, a rear parking sensor, and an immobilizer.
Meanwhile, the Ford Transit comes with a more robust set of safety features such as ABS with ESP, fading brake support, emergency brake warning, hill launch assist, tire pressure sensors, front and rear parking sensors, and a rear roof escape hatch among others.
With better safety features, this round goes to the Ford Transit.

Having better overall results, the winner of this bout is the Ford Transit. But, the Maxus V80 did show its own strengths, even edging out the American in terms of power.
On that note, these two passenger vans make for great options for Filipino car buyers looking for a dependable family carrier.
