Petron assures fuel supply for Odette-hit provinces as infra damage reaches P448.9-M

Petron Corporation assured that the company is working to ensure that provinces badly-battered by Typhoon Odette will receive ample supply of fuel.

    Aside from fuel, the oil firm will be donating food products to some 3,700 families in its fence line communities in Mandaue and Mactan, Cebu.

    The aforementioned aid is part of the initial P30-million worth of donations that SMC shared. This includes truckloads of food to Odette-hit areas in Antique, Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur, Bacolod, Bohol, Biliran, Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Camiguin, Cebu, Dinagat island, Davao del Sur, Eastern Samar, Guimaras, Iloilo, Leyte, Marinduque, Misamis Oriental, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Siquijor, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Tagoloan.

    “We are one with all our countrymen who were affected by the recent typhoon. There’s a lot of things that are needed right now; we want to help make sure that basic food is covered. We will continue to assess the situation in the coming days and weeks and find more ways to help,” Ang said.

    He added that following last week’s typhoon, the company, through its San Miguel Foundation, had immediately mobilized available resources from its facilities in the Visayas region and nearby provinces as well as Luzon, in order to bring immediate relief to some provinces.

    Relatedly, the damage to public infrastructures have reached P448.9 million as of yesterday noon (December 21).

    The DPWH Bureau of Maintenance reported that the total amount is made up of the following: P209.5 million in road damages, P100 million worth of damages in bridges and P139.4 million on flood-control structures.

    While it cleared 33 road sections, DPWH said that its teams are still working for the reopening of 11 national road sections that are still impassable in Regions 4-B, 7, 8, 10, and 13.
