Peugeot Philippines has finally brought in the
Malaysia-made version of its
Peugeot 3008 compact crossover, bringing the price
of Europe's 2017 Car of the Year to
below PHP2 million--or
PHP1.890 million, to be exact. To refresh your memory, when the range-topping GT Line variant went on sale locally in October 2017,
it was priced at PHP2.59 million.
"The launch of the 3008 SUV Active Petrol is exciting for us because we are finally able to compete fairly with the best products the industry has to offer," said
Dodie Gañac, Peugeot Philippines' director for Sales. "It also affirms the commitment of the Peugeot brand to the Philippines."
According to Peugeot Philippines, this iteration of the 3007 has a longer wheelbase, which translates to better legroom for rear passengers.
"With this change, we have made the 3008 SUV Active Petrol more comfortable to all passengers, without compromising the original design of the product," Gañac said. "The allure of the 3008 SUV lies in its design and driving comfort, so we made sure that customers will see and feel no difference between this variant and the rest of our product range."
The interiors of the vehicle have also been upgraded, with all the seats being upholstered in a
sophisticated Claudia all-leather trim.
Elsewhere, the Peugeot 3008 Active Petrol maintains its French DNA all throughout, from its
signature i-Cockpit and premium finishes, to its
high-performance 1.6-liter Turbo High Pressure (THP) petrol engine that's mated to a
six-speed automatic transmission to produce
165 hp and
240 Nm of torque.
As with the other variants in Peugeot Philippines' product range, the Peugeot 3008 Active Petrol
comes preinstalled with AutoSweep and EasyTrip RFIDs loaded with PHP500 each for convenient and hassle-free journeys to and from NLEX and SLEX. And to complete the ownership experience, the vehicle will also include a
comprehensive three-year warranty plus an
additional two years of extended coverage.
"Value for money does not mean sacrificing on quality and peace of mind. With this in mind, Peugeot Philippines assures our customers a satisfying ownership experience with the 3008 SUV Active Petrol," Gañac said.
The arrival of the Malaysia-made 3008 comes just over a year after
Groupe PSA–the French conglomerate which the Peugeot brand falls under alongside Citroën, DS, Opel, and Vauxhall–
entered into a contract with Malaysian company Naza to produce PSA-branded cars for both the local and other Asian markets.
As for the diesel-powered 3008, it will still be sourced from the Sochaux plant in France and is
currently priced at PHP2.090 million--a
difference of PHP200,000 between it and the gasoline-fed 3008.
The
Malaysia-made Peugeot 5008 midsize crossover, meanwhile, is
expected to arrive by the end of the month. And although Peugeot Philippines wouldn't disclose its price yet, the
zero-tariff under the ASEAN Free Trade agreement should
lower its price from its current PHP3.190 million.
Perhaps the biggest argument for choosing the Peugeot 3008 Active Petrol over its local competitors was best presented by no less than
Columbian Group of Companies' Chairman Emeritus and current Palawan Governor Jose 'Pepito' Alvarez.
"It's cheaper than a Kia Sorento," Alvarez pointed out during the event. The Kia Sorento EX 4x2 is being sold today at PHP1.895 million--PHP5,000 more than the Peugeot 3008 Active Petrol.
To the uninitiated, the Columbian Group of Companies once had the Kia brand under its corporate umbrella
before it was acquired by the Ayala Group of Companies at the end of 2018.
Anyway, the Peugeot 3008 SUV Active Petrol is now available in select dealerships nationwide. For more information on Peugeot's latest products and offers, customers may email
