The e-2008 is Peugeot Philippines initial entry in the local EV arena. When was the Peugeot e-2008's global debut?
The Peugeot e-2008 had its global debut in 2019.In a statement, the Astara-led automotive distributor said that unveiling of the Peugeot electrified 2008 “brings to fruition the Lion brand’s electrification plan of introducing new models and technologies to its range, with the target of having an electric version of every vehicle in 2023.”
Following this, Peugeot will be the first Stellantis brand to launch the group's new generation of electric vehicles.
“The unveiling of the Peugeot e-2008 at the MIAS is intended to give our customers a glimpse into the electrification of the Peugeot line up. Peugeot has been pioneering electric vehicles since 1941, and the coming of the e-2008 to the Philippines culminates more than 80 years of expertise,” Peugeot Philippines Brand Head Maricar Parco was quoted as saying.
A fully-electrified model when it was first launched in China back in 2019, the Peugeot e-2008 was fitted with a multi-energy Common Modular Platform developed with Dongfeng. Peugeot Philippines has yet to share the full details — as well as pricing — of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the company announced that it will offer special prices on the displayed models that are exclusive during the four-day event. Test drives of the Peugeot 2008, 3008, and 5008 will also be offered at MIAS.
“As with every model in our line-up, including other electric vehicles that we will launch in the future, each vehicle roars with its fierce design, imposing style, sheer driving pleasure and sophisticated technologies. Every Peugeot is a masterful work of art with the heart of a lion,” Parco added.
Peugeot in the Philippines is now under Astara, one of the biggest automotive distributors and mobility companies in the world. Last year, Peugeot became the fastest-growing auto brand in the Philippines after it showed a 285-percent growth in retail sales year-over-year.
Relatedly, the brand is set to expand its dealership network to 18 locations by end of the year.
It can be recalled the nameplate’s gasoline-fed version was brought to the country and joined the pride in April last year.
