Following the announcement that it will bring in the Omoda 5 to the local market later in the year, Omoda Philippines confirmed some of the initial details about the vehicle.
In an interview with Carmudi Philippines, Omoda Philippines Director Marco Chen announced that the upcoming vehicle — which is set to go head-to-head with the Ford Territory (which will have a new version soon) and the Subaru XV — will be priced under P1.5-million mark.
Meanwhile, Omoda Philippines Brand Head John Ezekiel Asuncion shared other noteworthy specifications about the upcoming nameplate.
The brand’s first global model, Asuncion said that the forthcoming crossover wears the “Art in Motion” design language that is aimed at catering to the younger generation.
In terms of body colors, the incoming Omoda 5 will be offered in six options namely Aviation Silver, White, Phantom Gray, Vanilla Blue, Carbon Crystal Black, and Midnight Blue with the first three hues sporting hints of red. Per Asuncion, the aforementioned shades 5 were picked as they find them trendy.
Size-wise, the Omoda 5 is 4,400 millimeters (mm) long, 1,830mm wide, and 1,588 mm tall with a 2,630mm wheelbase. Its trunk space can be adjusted from 292 liters to 360 liters.
Powering the vehicle would be a 1.5-turbo gasoline engine mated to continuously variable transmission that can provide 145 horsepower and 230 Newton-meters of torque. It also passed the Euro 4B emission standards.
In an earlier article, Omoda Philippines verified that the upcoming Omoda 5 will be fitted with dual 10.25-inch screens, a 4.0 human-machine interface system and advanced driver-assistance system, which covers 16 safe driving assistance functions and boasts a comprehensive intelligent technology system.
