Following its local preview at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2023 last April, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) will open the pre-order books for the Ioniq 6 beginning tomorrow (June 26).
Priced at P3.798 million, HMPH President Dongwook Lee said that customers may reserve the company’s newest electric vehicle (EV) offering at Hyundai dealerships in Alabang, Commonwealth, Makati, Pampanga, and Pasig.
Hailed as the 2023 EV of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and overall World Car of the Year, the Hyundai Ioniq 6’s design language is both functional and eye-catching. For one, its streamlined roof gives the electrified midsize sedan an athletic look and assures sufficient cabin space.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 sports parametric pixel LED lamps (front and rear); front bumper with active air flaps and air curtains; flush-type door handles; two-color cladding; 20-inch alloy wheels with special performance tires; and a rear spoiler.
Inside the cabin, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 wears a winglet-shaped dashboard and a bridge-shaped center console. It also has a digital cluster and infotainment touchscreen (both 12.3 inches big) merged into a single screen for a larger view and easier access; a new Graphical User Interface (which was recognized by the Red Dot Design Awards) and interactive LED lighting themes.
Instead of the company emblem, four LED pixel lights were installed on the Hyundai Ioniq 6’s steering wheel to complement the line-lights at the dashboard that adapt depending on the vehicle’s movement.
Built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has a flat floor structure to maximize space — especially for the second-row area.
Further, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has an extensive suite of technological features such as the electric-Active Sound Design that is synchronized with the driving speed, motor torque and accelerator pedal, a head-up display integrated onto the windshield, and a surround view monitor with four wide-angle cameras covering the front, back, and sides.
For mobile device connectivity and charging inside the car, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 features equipped with five USB ports, Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity, and a wireless charging dock.
Standard safety fitments that can be found in the Hyundai Ioniq 6 include the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 as well as the forward, side and reverse parking collision-avoidance assist. The former automatically assists with emergency braking or avoidance steering while the latter warns drivers of any obstructions during parking or exiting then automatically applies emergency braking when no action was made even after the alert.
Just like the Ioniq 5 brethren, the latest product has 400-volt and 800-volt multi-charging capabilities with vehicle-to-load (V2L) prowess and can dish out around 62 kilowatt-hours of usable power. The additional outlet placed at the bottom of the second-row seat can be utilized simultaneously with the one on the rear right side of the door.
Moreover, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 said that the vehicle can cover a distance as much as 545 kilometers. Per HMPH, the vehicle can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in only 18 minutes.
“There’s really more than what meets the eye with the Hyundai Ioniq 6. It’s ‘Beyond Electric’, providing owners a more tailored and immersive driving experience,” Lee said.
“I hope you are excited as we are to be officially welcoming it to the local market. With our IONIQ line, we assure our Filipino customers not just a green solution to their mobility needs but also a worry-free and intelligent one that will fit their lifestyles,” he added.
Lee said that vehicle is packaged with a five-year or 200,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and eight-year or 160,000-kilometers battery warranty, and five-year or 75,000-kilometer preventive maintenance service, as well as home installation of the standard 7.4 kilowatts AC wall charger.
To be retailed in GLS 2WD Long Range trim, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is offered with exterior body color options namely Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Curated Silver Metallic, Gravity Gold Matte, Nocturne Gray Matte, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Digital Green Pearl and Ultimate Red Metallic. Its interior, HMPH shared, can be had with either black or gray tones.
Relatedly, HMPH is also celebrating its first founding anniversary — as well as the brand’s global partnership with Sony Pictures for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” — by putting up an exhibit at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall.
Open until today (June 25), the display not only highlights its EV models (V2L) competency, but also gives a P10,000-discount voucher and a Hyundai-branded New Earth Washable Paper Bag Tote to those who will place a reservation for the Creta, Santa Fe, Stargazer or Tucson.
