MANILA: BYD Cars Philippines has unveiled the Seal’s more affordable variant.
Called the Seal Advanced, the latest offering gave the nameplate a more affordable option without compromising technology, luxury, style, and safety. In addition, BYD's new product expanded the model’s options to two — joining the Performance option.
“The BYD Seal Advanced is designed for drivers who prioritize efficiency, safety, and advanced technology. With its impressive range, extreme comfort, and extensive ADAS features, the Seal Advanced promises a safe and reliable everyday driving experience. This is the perfect choice for today’s electric vehicle owner who wants to experience the pinnacle of BYD design and technology,” BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca said.
These are some of the new BYD Seal Advanced’s features.
The major difference between the two trims is its powertrain configuration. The BYD Seal Advanced is powered by an electric motor (which can dish out 200 horsepower (hp) and 310 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque in a rear-wheel-drive arrangement — instead of all-wheel-drive.
Such a setup allows the vehicle to go 100 kilometers per hour (kph) from standstill in less than eight seconds.
The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor gets its juice from the 61.40-kilowatt-hour (kWh) Blade Battery is integrated into the car’s body that, in turn, boosts torsional rigidity while reducing the electric vehicle’s weight. The energy bank gives the vehicle up to 510 kilometers of smoke-free range (based on New European Driving Cycle standards).
Charging can be done via the 110-kilowatt (kW) DC (which can juice up the battery from 30 to 80 percent in 30 minutes) or 7kW AC (which can charge a fully-drained vehicle in approximately 12 hours) charging systems.
“Expanding the BYD Seal lineup with the Advanced variant allows us to reach a broader segment of the Philippine electric vehicle sedan market. This new addition reflects our ongoing commitment to offering a diverse range of electric vehicles that cater to the needs of more Filipino drivers as we continue to expand BYD’s presence in the country,” BYD Philippines Country Head Aiffy Liu said.
The BYD Seal Advanced is still fitted with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster and 15.6-inch intelligent rotating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity — similar to those fitted in the Performance trim.
Further, the new offering’s cabin is still fitted with a full-leather interior with suede inserts and has the following comfort and convenience appointments:
