The new HEV battery warranty coverage for Mazda models in the country has been extended to five years. What Mazda models are covered by the extended HEV battery warranty coverage?
The models covered by the updated warranty are the Mazda3, CX-30, CX-60, and CX-90 equipped with 24- or 48-volt lithium-ion batteries. In a statement, the Japanese automaker’s local distributor said that the warranty for the batteries (be it in 24- or 48-volt kind) of the Mazda3, CX-30, CX-60, and CX-90 have been extended to five years from the previous three-year coverage.
According to Mazda Philippines, all units that have been sold since the model’s respective introductions in the Philippine market (beginning in October 2021 with the Mazda3 HEV and CX-30 HEV) are covered with the revised coverage.
“The warranty extension of the hybrid battery from three to five years underscores our dedication to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. It reinforces our commitment to providing premium quality hybrid technology and exceptional customer services,” Mazda Philippines President Steven Tan was quoted as saying.
“Owners of these models will now benefit from comprehensive coverage for their hybrid battery systems, ensuring added peace of mind,” he added.
Further, the firm clarified that the five-year HEV battery warranty is part of the other benefits that is being given to its customers. Other perks include the three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year or 100,000-kilometer free preventive maintenance service package.
To note, the Mazda HEV batteries come with advanced temperature management system that automatically optimizes the power bank’s performance depending on the driving condition. This feature avoids excessive heat that can affect battery life and efficiency.
Also, the HEV battery also has its own dedicated power control module that prevents overcharging or depletion to help extend battery life.
Serving as an important part of the Mazda HEV system, the lithium-ion batteries complement the Skyactiv engine technology that allows “exceptional driving performance with reduced fuel consumption.”
In addition, the system reduces tailpipe emissions by turning off the combustion engine at low speeds or at idle.
Lastly, the Mazda HEV system also has a regenerative braking feature that captures the energy normally wasted when slowing down and stores it in the battery — reducing reliance on the internal combustion engine.
