Model's reservation books now open
JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Company) Philippines will officially field the Ytterby — its initial contender in the local electric vehicle (EV) arena — next week.
In a statement, the Astara-led automotive firm said that the vehicle is set to be formally unveiled on September 27.
As posted on its official Facebook page (JAC Cars Philippines), customers can now reserve a unit of the electric hatchback until the official launch date — with the top-spec version offered at a special price of P1.295 million.
Here are the vehicle specifications.
The all-new JAC Ytterby sports a "Bubble Aesthetics” exterior that provides rounded and soft contours to the vehicle. It comes with a 1,450-mm panoramic skylight, tri-color petal wheels, and hidden door handles, and electronically-folding exterior mirrors.
Depending on the trim chosen, the vehicle’s electric engine offers varying outputs — with the entry-level version capable of producing 94 horsepower (hp) and 135 Newton-meters (Nm) and the latter, 134 hp and 175 Nm.
Aside from that, their mill is mated to a battery that also has differing storage capacities as the base trim can carry 41 kilowatt-hours (kWh) and the other, as much as 51.5 kWh. The former can cover 405 kilometers, while the latter extends up to 505 km (based on China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle standards).
The all-new JAC Ytterby boasts a nine-in-one electric drive system, which combines motor, reducer, drive motor controller, high-voltage power distribution, and ACDC (alternating current and direct current). This, the company claimed, results in 40-percent weight reduction and 94-percent efficiency improvement.
Per JAC Philippines, the aforementioned powertrain design has a 10-kWh energy consumption per 100 km and offers trunk space comparable to larger battery- or internal-combustion-engine-powered (ICE) models.
The firm also noted that the all-new JAC Ytterby’s DC charger can juice up its from 30 to 80 percent in 30 minutes and 7.5 to nine hours using a home charging system.
Further, the all-new JAC Ytterby is outfitted with a zero thermal runaway honeycomb battery, six airbags, and three-in-one intelligent braking system — with the higher-tiered option slapped with Level 2 driver Assisted Driving technologies.
JAC Philippines Brand Head Tonette Lee noted that the all-new Ytterby offers exceptional value compared to other compact EV and ICE vehicles in its segment — claiming that it provides “long-term savings on fuel and maintenance costs.”
"A good car is born on a great platform. JAC is proud to set a new benchmark with this vehicle. We’ve combined an intelligent cabin, powerful 9-in-1 powertrain, and class-leading safety features to deliver a unique and delightful driving experience. And yet, this comes to the market providing spec-for-spec great value, always giving mind to what the customer deserves. It’s a statement of what’s possible when innovation meets responsibility,” she was quoted as saying.
Retailed in Beige, Purple, Blue, White, and Gray color options, the all-new JAC Ytterby is offered at the following variations and respective price points:
