PH-spec Mitsubishi Xforce to be unveiled by June 2024

The Mitsubishi Xforce will be officially introduced to the Philippine market before the initial half of the year ends.

Such announcement came from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Executive Vice President for Sales Tatsuo Nakamura after he said that the brand’s local arm is eyeing to launch the model by June 2024.

The five-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV) — which was first known as the XFC Concept (which was showcased locally in July 2023) — will arrive in the country months after the nameplate arrived in the Indonesian (August 2023) and Vietnam (January 2024) markets.

In his speech, Nakamura expressed confidence that the overall design of the Mitsubishi Xforce (which was designed mainly for the Southeast Asian market) will earn the attention of many customers in the Philippine market.

According to the MMC executive, the Xforce embodies Mitsubishi Motors-ness with its attractive design and noted that it recently won the V Mark Design Golden Award in Vietnam. He also expressed firm belief the Filipinos will also be enticed with its looks too.

He cited the crossover comes with four drive modes that included “wet” option, which made it fit for the region’s road conditions. He said that the technology “controls the wheels in a sophisticated manner, and ensures vehicle stability on wet roads by rain, and in flooded roads by storms.”

As Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has yet to share the pertinent details such as official specifications and pricing, here are some information about the Xforce being retailed abroad.

The Mitsubishi Xforce features a unique design language: it smooth has smooth surfaces and a floating roof on the upper part and beefy proportions on the lower portion thanks to the fender flares.

Fit for off-road activities, the Mitsubishi Xforce is fitted with 18-inch wheels with large diameter tires and stands with a 222-millimeter (mm) ground clearance.

The cabin boasts a large monolithic display panel with a 12.3-inch smartphone-link display audio and a digital driver display. Its Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium sound system includes eight speakers, with front tweeters on the A-pillars on both sides, woofers in the front doors, and coaxial two-way speakers in the rear doors.

Power of the Mitsubishi Xforce comes from a 1.5-liter double overhead cam, 16-valve engine with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control system. The mill is mated to a continuous variable transmission setup.

On paper, the mill can provide 103 horsepower and 141 Newton-meters of torque. Aside from Wet, its four-drive mode system also has Normal, Gravel and Mud.

Relatedly, Indonesia has started exporting its Mitsubishi Xforce units produced by at PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia. Vietnam will be the vehicle’s first export market in ASEAN, and will soon be delivered in stages to the Philippines, followed by South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
