PilipinasAuto powers local transport coop PUVMP efforts in Butuan
The local arm for China-based bus maker Dongfeng is powering the public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization efforts in Butuan, as the company announced the delivery of the initial batch of orders from a local transport cooperative there.
Pilipinas Autogroup, Inc. (PilipinasAuto) announced that they have handed over a pair of Dongfeng Class 2 Modern PUV to Butuan Multicab Operators Transport Service Cooperative (BUMOTSCO). The handover was done through PilipinasAuto’s dealer, Davao Bonifacio Motors, Inc. (DBMI).
Attending the turnover ceremonies were DBMI Sales Administrative Assistant Jenny Rose Sazo, BUMOTSCO Chair Anthony Antigulas, BUMOTSCO Vice Chair Peter Bacaling and BUMOTSCO Operations Officer and Safety Supervisor Christopher Antigulas, BUMOTSCO director Ferdinand Edullantes.
The preliminary delivery of the units is part of the expected 50-unit supply arrangement, in compliance with the group’s adherence to the PUV modernization program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
For his part, PilipinasAuto Vice President and General Manager Art Balmadrid expressed pride over the delivery of the units, which will address public transportation woes in the area.
“We are glad that we had the opportunity to supply high quality and affordable Dongfeng vehicles to help modernize public transportation in the country. These modern PUVs will mostly benefit the riding public as it is safer and offers more convenience,” Balmadrid said.
On a normal (non-COVID-19 pandemic) situation, the Dongfeng Class 2 Modern PUV is able to seat 17 passengers with room for nine more (standing room). Aside from that, this behemoth on the road is equipped with a Euro-4 compliant, 2.8 liter common rail diesel (CRDi) engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission that can dish out a maximum of 115 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque.
Priced at P1.96 million, this PUVMP-ready unit is fitted with overhead air-conditioning as well as other Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-approved accessories such as: Automatic Fare Collection System, CCTV with recorder, LED route display, GPS tracking, LCD Monitor, and wifi router.
PilipinasAuto is also providing warranty coverage of two-years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
Back in April, PilipinasAuto lent several units of Dongfeng Class 2 and 3 modern Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Office of the Vice President as additional means of transportation for frontliners.
