Porsche will launch the 493-horsepower 718 Spyder RS in the United States in springtime (from March to June) of 2024.
According to the German automotive brand, the Porsche 718 Spyder RS will share the same powerplant as the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, a four-liter six-cylinder boxer engine mated to a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung transmission.
The aforementioned setup, Porsche noted, puts out as much as 448 Newton-meters of torque and propels the 718 Spyder RS from a standstill to around 100 kilometers in just 3.2 seconds. Further, the powertrain allows the open-top, mid-engine sports car to reach a top speed of 307 kilometers per hour.
“With an engine taken directly from racing, the 718 Spyder RS offers a driving experience like no other. Slicing around a tight corner with the top off and the engine soaring to 9,000 rpm is an experience you will never forget,” said Porsche Cars North America President and Chief Executive Officer Kjll Gruner.
Reflecting its mechanical prowess is an aerodynamic exterior with appointments including a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) front lid with a wide air outlet above the bumper, a front lip spoiler, and sideblades on the outer ends of the bumper.
Additionally, it sports two air ducts (that enhance brake cooling), a striking ducktail spoiler, and a unique manually-operated, lightweight soft top.
An optional Weissach Package is made available for the Porsche 718 Spyder RS, which adds titanium tailpipes, an exposed carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber combustion air scoops, and a carbon fiber Gurney flap on the rear spoiler.
Those opting for the abovementioned Weissach Package can also add a set of forged magnesium wheels in combination with the sporty equipment package.
Inside, the Porsche 718 Spyder RS also comes with performance-oriented features like its Race-Tex covered GT Sport steering wheel, its lightweight CFRP bucket seats, and a leather-wrapped dashboard.
When equipped with the Weissach Package, would-be owners can expect to get a Race-Tex-covered dashboard as well as headrests embroidered with Weissach logos.
Porsche is also throwing in a matching Porsche Design Chronograph. The timepiece is designed to match the configuration of the car and comes with a titanium case, carbon fiber dials, and straps made of “vehicle leather.”
The Porsche 718 Spyder RS is priced at US$160,700 (approximately P8.961 million).
