The Porsche 911 is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What are the two new kicks that Porsche will release to celebrate the 911's 60th anniversary?
Per Porsche, the name of the shoes are Retro Sneaker and Heritage Sneaker. What company did Porsche partnered with for the release of the said kicks?
According to Porsche, it has teamed up with Puma.To commemorate the milestone, the German carmaker — in collaboration with Puma — will release two sneakers that embody the iconic design of the Porsche 911.
Dubbed Retro Sneaker, the pair is characterized by the classic narrow and flat silhouette of the Porsche 911 S 2.5 from 1972. The sneakers boast a stylish light blue color scheme, which was derived from the exterior color of the historic vehicle. The same applies to the starting number 56 on the heel.
Additional notable features offered by the Retro Sneaker from Porsche and Puma are suede overlays and underlays, tongues made out of smooth leather, and red contrast stitching.
It also wears the so-called grille badge of the Porsche 911 S/T (a round badge on the radiator grille of the vehicle) on the front of its tongues and is applied as a woven label.
The grille badge bears the 60 Years of Porsche 911 logo in black and white and also adorns the brown leather tag (hang tag).
The sneaker is limited to 1,972 samples in reference to the birth year of the vehicle. The limitation number can be found on the bottom of a leather tab attached to the side of the shoe, with eye-catching Porsche lettering on the top.
Meanwhile, the Heritage Sneaker flaunts a modern, sporty silhouette, with its design and color scheme inspired by the new Porsche 911 S/T.
Porsche and Puma’s Heritage Sneaker boasts a gray color based on the exterior color of the anniversary car. It also dons a cognac-brown shoe lining, which it gets from the interior of the said automobile.
The starting number 63 (in reference to the year the Porsche 911 was born) and Porsche lettering — both positioned on the heel — perfectly round off the sporty look. In contrast, the Heritage Sneaker wears a grille badge on its tongues (made of smooth leather), which are applied as woven labels.
The Heritage Sneaker features the 60 Years of Porsche 911 logo in color. It is also found on the hang tag, which is made from the outer leather of the shoe.
As a tribute to the first generation of the 911, the Heritage Sneaker is limited to 1,963 pairs. The single numbering is found on the textile underside of the tongue, which bears the pattern of the vehicle seats.
Both kicks share features including red laces on both the left shoe, black laces for the right shoe, and their respective limitation numbers found on the tip of the laces.
The shoe bags and boxes are in the respective color of the shoe and also printed with the respective grill badge and the respective start number, Porsche stated.
The launch and exclusive pre-sale of the Retro and Heritage sneakers will take place on September 5, 2023, at the Porsche pop-up store at the IAA Mobility in Munich. They will also be available on Porsche’s website from September 6, 2023.
