Porsche has equipped all United States (US)-market Taycan models with Apple Maps EV Routing, allowing owners of the four-door electric saloon to plan their journeys ahead.
By integrating Apple Maps EV Routing in every Porsche Taycan, owners no longer need to exit the Carplay ecosystem in order to plot a route that includes charging stops.
“We’ve listened to our customers, and they appreciate flexibility. This integration with a product that they are already familiar with gives more options and confidence in how they use their Taycan, both in day-to-day activities and on longer road trips,” Porsche Digital Inc. Managing Director Steffen Haug commented.
Apple Maps EV Routing, Porsche explained, uses real-time vehicle information to help customers navigate to their destination. Along the way, this feature can also recommend charging stops when needed.
To do this, Apple Maps identifies appropriate charging stations ahead, so, if a customer drives until the charge gets too low, they are offered a route to the nearest compatible charging station.
US-based Porsche Taycan owners can get Apple Maps EV Routing on their vehicles by upgrading to the latest version of the My Porsche app on their iPhones.
The Apple Maps EV Routing will complement the Porsche Charging Planner — which optimizes stops based on the anticipated state of charge upon arrival, traffic conditions, and average speed — found in every Taycan.
We just hope that the same tech would become available in the Philippines as the number of public charging stations are already growing in numbers.
