Porsche handed over 145,860 cars in the first six months of 2022.According to the German automotive brand, it sold a total of 167,354 vehicles globally from January to June this year.
In contrast to the Stuttgart-headquartered carmaker’s deliveries in the first half of 2022, it only sold 145,860 cars in the said time period.
“After the first six months of the year, we can be pleased with our delivery results so far. We posted gains in every sales region,” noted Porsche Board Member for Sales and Marketing Detlev von Platen.
When broken down, Porsche shared that its best market to date is Europe where it sold 36,574 units. In Germany, for example, the automotive brand handed over 17,118 units. These figures translated to a 23 percent growth for the entirety of Europe and a 24 percent growth for the brand’s domestic market when compared to the numbers it reported in the first half of 2022.
Europe is followed by North America and China where Porsche sold 41,937 and 43,832 cars respectively. The said numbers construed to a 12 percent and an eight percent increase for both markets when compared to its sales in the region from January to June of 2022.
When it comes to Porsche’s best-selling models, the carmaker said that sport utility vehicles (SUV) — the Macan in particular — were its top sales drivers. The company sold a total of 47,755 Macans and delivered exactly 46,884 Cayenne SUVs to its customers.
As for the iconic Porsche 911, it sold 26,124 units worldwide, which reflected a 21 percent increase in the nameplate’s sales. The Panamera, on the other hand, saw a 13 percent sales increase with 17,565 deliveries worldwide.
Further, the Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models contributed 11,035 in the overall number and saw a 13 percent increase in the nameplate’s sales.
However, Porsche saw a dip in the sales of the Taycan at 17,991 units sold, which translated to a five percent decrease compared to the same time frame last year.
“Value-oriented growth is the top priority for Porsche. To achieve that, we are continuing to focus on flexibility as the global economic situation remains challenging. Especially in China, we are striving for a balance of supply and demand in line with our luxury positioning,” von Platen concluded.
