Porsche unveiled the limited-edition new 911 Sport Classic — the second of four collector's items that the brand presented from its Heritage Design strategy.
The Stuttgart-headquartered manufacturer said that model from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur will only have 1,250 examples.
The sports car maker is launching four limited-edition models — the first of which was the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition that possesses design elements from the 1950s and 1960s that was presented in 2020.
Just like the 997-based 911 Sport Classic presented in 2009, the 911 Sport Classic’s aesthetics is inspired by the original 911 (1964 – 1973) — particularly the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7.
“The Heritage Design models represent the more emotionally driven concepts of the Porsche product strategy,” Porsche Head of Customization and Classic Alexander Fabig was quoted as saying.
“This unique approach sees the Style Porsche design department working with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to reinterpret iconic 911 models and equipment from the 1950s through to the 1980s and to revive design features from those decades.”
Porsche Design also made a matching high-quality chronograph for those who will purchase the collector's edition vehicle.
Some of the key elements that can be seen in the new Porsche 911 Sport Classic are the fixed rear “ducktail” spoiler and double-bubble roof. The color options for the vehicle are Sport Grey Metallic, solid Black, Agate Grey Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic.
For its interiors, the Pepita houndstooth pattern can be found on the car’s door panels and seat centers, while two-tone, semi-aniline leather upholstery in Black/Classic Cognac provides an elegant contrast with the exterior color.
Powering the new rear-wheel drive 911 Sport Classic is a 3.7-liter, twin-turbo flat-six engine matched to a seven-speed manual slushbox. The powertrain combination makes the new 911 Sport Classic is the most powerful manual 911 available to date.
“The gearbox has an auto-blip function that compensates for engine-speed differences between the gears with a brief burst of revs when shifting down. The standard sports exhaust system is specially tailored to the model for an even more emotive sound experience,” Porsche said.
Further, the car also comes with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
The new Porsche 911 Sport Classic can be ordered now at a starting price of €272,714 (around P15 million). Delivery will be available from European Porsche Centers from July 2022 onwards and additional markets will follow.
