A Porsche Taycan electric vehicle (EV) was seen braving a flooded street in Dubai.
Tiktok user zubair_khan44 posted two videos showing a white Porsche Taycan facing a flooded thoroughfare with what we can only imagine as above-knee water.
In the first clip, which you can check out here, the Porsche Taycan EV can be seen nearly floating as it struggles to get traction with water already reaching its door handles.
The second clip, which you can watch here, reveals the white electric car moving forward and making it past the flooded area.
Garnering 2.6 million views, the first video lasted for 23 seconds. On the other hand, the second video, which now has 2.1 million views lasted for 12 seconds.
Reports say that the flood was caused by heavy rains, which occurred on April 17. The heaviest rainfall the city has seen in years managed to flood roads as well as other establishments.
The display of bravery not only shows how confident the driver is with his or her electric car but also the engineering prowess of the German-made electric car.
Locally, the Porsche Taycan is sold either as the Sports Saloon (sedan) or the Cross Turismo (station wagon).
The Philippine-spec Sports Saloon model, similar to the one in the video, is available in six variants, namely the base Porsche Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo, Taycan Turbo S, Taycan Turbo GT, and Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package.
The base model Porsche Taycan is equipped with the carmaker’s E-Performance Powertrain with a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle. It can put out approximately 402 horses with 410 Newton-meters of pulling power. It has a top speed of 230 kilometers per hour.
According to Porsche Philippines, the estimated range of the Taycan here in the country is around 503-590 kilometers.
It uses an 89-kilowatt-hour battery that can be charged up to 80 percent in just 46 minutes using a direct current charger. On the other hand, it takes 10.5 hours to fill the battery up using an alternating current charging system.
