Porsche to roll out limited 2023 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America

Automotive brand Porsche announced earlier this week that the company will “offer a special, market-specific sports car with the ‘America’ moniker.” Dubbed the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America, the special-edition convertible brings to the table a very rare, enthusiast-focused sports car made specifically for the North American market.

“Passion for driving a Porsche runs deep in the United States. In particular, there is something special about hitting the road in an open-top 911 with a manual transmission that fits perfectly here. This is also the perfect time to add another ‘America’ model to our story as we look back on 70 years since the 356 America Roadster and 30 years since the 964 America Roadster,” said Porsche Cars North America Inc. CEO and President Kjell Gruner.

Per the Stuttgart-based automaker, the new model is based on the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, therefore boasting similar chassis and powertrains as the aforementioned model. Speaking of which, the spyder is offered with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter boxer six-cylinder engine mated to a seven-speed manual gearbox. This setup allows the cabriolet to put as much as 473 horses with 571Nm of torque.

Other features that give emphasis to the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America’s inclination to performance include its rear-wheel-drive drivetrain, standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sport, Sport Exhaust and Sport Chrono Package, as well as the 408mm standard cast-iron brake rotors with six-piston aluminum fixed calipers in the front and the 380mm fixed aluminum four-piston calipers at the rear.

Optional add-ons for those who seek more out of the limited-edition cab are available such as the rear-axle steering and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB).

The 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America comes in a blue exterior paint inspired by the 1953 356 America Roadster called Azure Blue 356. Through the company’s Paint to Sample Plus, the color has been copied and has been reserved specifically for this 2023 model vehicle.

Its exterior appointments include a Satin Black windshield frame, a specially-designed RS Spyder Design Wheels, and unique decals that read “America,” “911 Carrera,” and “GTS” in Guards Red.

Inside, the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America reflects the same styling with cross-stitching in Guards Red with surrounding stitching in Pebble Gray all over the cabin.

Unique illuminated door sill plates commemorating the 70th anniversary of the 356 America Roadster are also included as standard equipment, along with a black leather interior, Guards Red seat belts, white tachometer and instrument cluster, and a heated GT Sport steering wheel.

An optional extended interior package spruces up the cabriolet’s cockpit with a 12 o’clock marking in Guards Red to the steering wheel, Guards Red cross stitching on the inside edge of the wheel, two-tone stitching to the shift boot, and a gear pattern on the manual lever in Guards Red.

The package also adds Sport Seats Plus with double stitching in Guards Red and Pebble Grey with “911” stitching on the headrests in Guards Red and the leather backrest release loops in the same color, floor mats with Guards Red and Pebble Grey stitching, and an Azure Blue 356-painted key with a two-tone leather key pouch with an embossed “America” lettering.

Porsche said that the 2023 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America is expected to arrive at US dealerships in late 2022 with prices starting from US$184,920.

Only a limited number of the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America will be made.
