Porsche to roll out update to bring all Taycan models to 2023 MY status

Porsche announced that it will roll out a new software update that would bring all Taycan models to 2023 MY status.

“A comprehensive update is on the horizon: regardless of vehicle age, engine, and body, all model variants can be brought up to the status of the 2023 model year with a software update. The update will be implemented on a market-specific basis,” Porsche said in a press release referring to the upcoming software update rollout.

Benefits that customers can experience after implementing the said software update include an increase in powertrain efficiency as well as new functions and improvements in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM), Porsche Connect, and assistance systems.

The update will also include the option of having individual functions and equipment unlocked after purchase (function on demand, FoD) and will enhance the over-the-air (OTA) update capability of all Taycan models.

Best of all, the update — per the German car brand — is free for all customers and can be carried out during a visit to a Porsche service workshop.

Porsche adds that while visiting a service workshop, customers may choose to retrofit the new 22kW onboard charger to their vehicles. This, now, comes with a nominal fee

With up to 22 kW of charging capacity, the more powerful variant charges the battery significantly faster. In Europe and North America, the retrofit also includes activation of the Plug & Charge function.

“This campaign will allow our customers to benefit from the continuous further development of the Taycan. We have extensively optimized the model series in almost every respect since 2019. New functions have been added and others have been revised or tweaked to further enhance the customer experience. Following this update, anyone driving a Taycan from early in the car’s production run will be pleasantly surprised by how much has developed on the vehicle side since then,” said Taycan Model Line Vice President Kevin Giek.

Meanwhile, Porsche Philippines shared, "OTA updates are still not applicable at the moment because the country's telecom capability is not yet compatible with the system Porsche uses. What Porsche Philippines does is to proactively inform our customers of any software update issued by the factory, and we can do that for their vehicles on site. Porsche Philippines has been doing this for the Taycan (and all Porsche models) since the model arrived in the country. This is just one of the numerous advantages of buying a Porsche from the authorized distributor. Gray market operators do not have access to official update notifications from the factory."
