Porsche has unveiled the Macan T, expanding the brand’s compact SUV range. The German carmaker explains that the new Macan marks the first time a four-door Porsche will carry the “T” badge, reserved only for the 911 and 718 models.
The letter T, which stands for Touring, has represented a unique characteristic of specially crafted Porsche automobiles since the 1960s. These models are known to give their owners a dynamic driving experience thanks to precise tuning, exclusive equipment, and efficient engines.
The Macan T lives up to its moniker by offering an athletic design, a range of exclusive equipment, and a powerful engine.
Outside, the Macan T is fitted with a bodykit (front apron, exterior mirrors, sideblades, and roof spoiler) finished in a model-specific Agate Grey Metallic paint. Complementing the exclusive exterior trims are sports tailpipes, side window trims, and a set of 20-inch wheels in black.
The Porsche Macan T features a fully-galvanized unibody. The bumpers are made with high-strength cross members and two deformation elements while the four doors sport integrated side-impact protection.
The cabin features standard eight-way electrically adjustable heated sports seats with exclusive upholstery based on a black leather package. The center portion of the front seats, as well as the outer section of the rear seats, are finished with a Sport-Tex stripe pattern. The headrests of the front seats have an embossed Porsche crest. Silver stitching can also be found on the seats, headrests, and steering wheel.
Its standard equipment includes a multifunctional GT heated sports steering wheel, a Sport Chrono stopwatch in the upper part of the dashboard, and a 10.9-inch touch screen with online navigation.
Would-be owners can have the Macan T delivered with a multifunctional Race-Tex GT sports steering wheel with carbon trims and an ionizer.
Power will come from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that makes 261 horses and 400Nm of torque. The powerplant is mated to a fast-switching seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) coupled with the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system. This setup gives the Macan T a top speed of 232kph and sends the compact SUV from zero to 100kph in 6.2 seconds.
Porsche says that the Macan T is now available in Germany with deliveries expected to start in April.
