There's reason to hope for the refreshed Nissan Terra's local arrival, as the midsize SUV was recently launched in Thailand.
The Terra's nose now wears the brand's "V-Motion" grille, whose width is emphasized by two chrome bars on either side. The headlights, with the usual LED decor, now have an angular shape and are claimed to have brighter beams. The headlights look like they've been pushed to the corners of the front end to make the SUV appear wider.
Viewing the Terra from the side, a faux fender grille can be spotted, along with new six-spoke wheels finished in silver and black. It's likely that the new alloys are reserved for the top-spec VL Terra trim. The Coulis Red paint, as shown in the Terra's official photos, is a new color option.
The tail end of the Terra is made distinguishable with a silver strip above the emblems. C-shaped LED lighting frames the reshaped tail lights, whose width is also expanded. Below the badges is a license plate recess which now appears more flush with the tailgate. Silver cladding at the rear bumper, like the one up front, is the finishing touch.
Inside the Terra, the redesign continues with the new dashboard, with aircon vents now mounted higher to make way for the nine-inch touchscreen infotainment, itself complete with Android and Apple phone mirroring. The driver views a seven-inch multi info display.
An electronic handbrake takes the place of the pull-type one, and the steering wheel seems to have been borrowed from the Leaf. Occupants will now sit in reshaped seats with more comfort, as per the manufacturer. Acoustic glass front and sides of the cabin promise to reduce cabin noise.
Red details on the dash, center armrest, and door panels jazz up the Terra's interior.
An eight-speaker Bose sound system, an HDMI-compatible 11-inch flip-down rear entertainment monitor, a digital rear-view mirror, a wireless charger, and a USB-C port among the car's five USB ports across three rows, round the equipment list. In Thailand, a hands-free powered tailgate can be optioned at the dealer.
All Terra trucks are said to come with Nissan’s 360-Degree Safety Shield, which includes autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning. VL models add to that blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera. Six airbags and stability control are standard fitments.
Behind the V-Motion grille sits the familiar 2.5-liter turbodiesel engine with 187hp and 450Nm of pull. A seven-speed auto manages the power going to all four wheels in the Terra VL.
