Rolls-Royce PH Rolls Out Poshest SUV in Cullinan

Ultra-Luxe brand Rolls-Royce has recently unleashed its most sophisticated beast in its lineup here in the Philippines, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Named after one of the biggest diamonds ever discovered, the Cullinan is the premier SUV offering of Rolls-Royce. And now it is ready to roam in the Philippines.

Since the brand is 'for the captains of the industry,' the Cullinan's price tag is no exception. Pegged at PHP53 million, it is packed with the poshest features.

The local versions are based on a single wheelbase with either a four- and five- seater configuration.

Powering the Cullinan is a V12 twin-turbo able to provide 563 hp and 850 Nm of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. But to make it more of a "magical carpet ride" as the brands claims, it sports air suspensions for that on- and off-road, drive.

Sven Grunwald, Asia Pacific Regional Product Manager for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said that "Cullinan has been Rolls-Royce's most anticipated new model, greeted with critical acclaim globally and perfectly equipped forthe Philippines."

"Cullinan will be at the pinnacle of luxury here, with bespoke capabilities that will complement the varied lifestyles of our highly successful customers," he added.

Willy Tee Ten, president of Autohub Group, the authorized distributors of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Manila, expressed excitement on the landing of the Cullinan on local roads, highlighting that "Philippines is an SUV country."

"Cullinan is the car our customers have been waiting for, perfectly suited for this market with unmistakable presence on and off-road. This is the car that will set the new benchmark for super-luxury in the SUV segment, an all-purpose Rolls-Royce for our captains of industry," Tee Ten shared.

The Cullinan's Pantheon grille sits on a chamfered edge, protruding forward and complemented by deep-set Laser headlights and brow-shaped LEDs cast up to 600 m.

The rear seats fold down electronically either completely, creating a flat load area or in a 2/3 and 1/3 split, increasing practicality even further. Rear-seat passengers can still travel with a long load, or use the carpeted seat back as an occasional table on which to rest their precious personal items.

The rear compartment or boot area offers a standard 560 liters of space, growing to 600 with the parcel shelf removed. With both rear seats folded down, Cullinan offers a loading length of 2,245 mm and load capacity of 1,930 liters--one of the largest in the luxury SUV segment.

The four-seater version of Cullinan, also known as the Individual Seat configuration, provides for the highest level of luxury in the SUV segment.

The two individual rear seats are separated by a Fixed Rear Center Console, which contains a drinks cabinet with Rolls-Royce whiskey glasses and decanter at the front, and champagne flutes and refrigerator in the rear. The seats feature ventilation and massage functions, and can be adjusted over a number of planes to offer ultimate comfort for rear-seat passengers over longer journeys.

In this Individual Seating configuration, a glass partition behind the rear seat isolates the passenger cabin from the luggage compartment, resulting in some of the lowest levels of noise recorded in an SUV cabin, while also protecting the Cullinan's occupants from temperature changes even when the luggage compartment is open.

The upper dashboard fascia has a 'Box Grain' black leather--a durable and water-resistant boarded leather similar to that used in Italian high-end luggage and handbag design.

Meanwhile, the seats in Cullinan wear a horseshoe graphic which emphasizes the supportive bolsters of the seat. These new seats also showcase Rolls-Royce's mastery of leather craft, made from a single piece of leather to ensure a highly three-dimensional surface.

On activation via its bespoke key, the Cullinan lowers itself by 40 mm to make entry--through segment-unique coach doors--effortless into its sanctuary of a cabin.

For its safety features, the Cullinan has Vision and Vision Assist including daytime and night-time Wildlife & Pedestrian warning; Alertness Assistant; a 4-Camera system with Panoramic View, all-round visibility and helicopter view; Active Cruise Control; Collision Warning; Cross-Traffic Warning, Lane Departure and Lane Change Warning; an industry leading 7×3-inch High-Resolution Head-Up Display, WiFi hotspot, and the latest Navigation systems.

However, the Cullinan, being an SUV, only has 53 centimeters water-wading capabilities. Tee Ten reminded everyone that despite its capabilities, one should think twice before hitting floodwaters.

Cullinan is now available for order in the Philippines, with first customer deliveries beginning in Q2 2019.

Despite the price tag, we are surprised to hear that the demand is higher than the supply locally, as to what Tee Ten said during the event.
