Rumor: Mitsubishi PH to Unveil All-New Small Crossover MPV By September
With the demise of the Mitsubishi Adventure at the end of 2017 following the Department of Environment and Natural Resources' measure that only Euro IV emission-compliant vehicles will be sold in the Philippines by 2018, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) has confirmed that the Japanese carmaker is already working on a replacement vehicle for it.
Recently, a source who is familiar with the operations of MMPC has shared with Carmudi.com.ph that the local Mitsubishi office will reveal the Adventure's replacement by September. Well, no sooner had our source shared this information that Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has announced that it will launch its "all-new Small Crossover MPV" at the upcoming 2017 Indonesia International Auto Show in August 2017.
Based on the teaser images provided by Mitsubishi, the "Small Crossover MPV" carries the brand's distinctive Dynamic Shield front fascia and has sculpted front and rear fenders. The carmaker also claims that it will be wider and larger than other vehicles in its segment, has a "fully optimized variable interior" that can accommodate seven occupants, and has a ride height that serves as "proof of the serious SUV performance and toughness rightly expected from Mitsubishi Motors." Powering the vehicle will reportedly be a 1.5-liter engine.
However, while the Indonesian-market units will be manufactured at Mitsubishi's new Indonesian factory in Bekasi Prefecture, West Java, it is still unknown if the Philippine-market units will be manufactured locally like the soon-to-be-discontinued Adventure.
