Sales of PH-spec Chery Tiggo 5x hybrid to start within Q3 2023?

The official launch of the Chery Tiggo 5X hybrid is definitely near and Carmudi Philippines is guessing that it could happen sometime next month.

This, after Chery Auto Philippines announced that the upcoming model’s initial batch of examples have already landed on Philippines shores.

Following the arrival of units, the Chinese automaker’s local distributor might turn over the units to its dealer network by the end of July.

To note, the company already previewed the vehicle alongside the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2023.

The two EV models are designed under the Q-Power Global Platform and use the 48-volt hybrid technology to further reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

Earlier, the company said that the hybrid system equipped in both the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid and Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid utilizes a belt starter generator (BSG) instead of the traditional alternator that works by recovering the energy generated when braking. The power is then stored in a 48-volt battery and is used to assist and increase the torque and power generated by the internal combustion engine.

With the aforementioned technology, customers can experience a 14-percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and savings of up to 13 percent in fuel consumption.

Chery's hybrid technology also features a start-stop system that shuts down the engine that can be used during stop-and-go traffic situations, which, in turn, assists in cutting down fuel consumption and emissions, while minimizing idle noise while the vehicle is stationary.
