3k units affected by the recall
More than 3,000 Land Cruiser 300 (LC300) units are the subject of Toyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) recall due to possible automatic transmission electronic control units (ECU).
Per TMP, a total of 3,420 examples produced from July 21, 2021-January 12, 2024 are covered by the special service campaign.
TMP noted that units affected by the recall need to undergo automatic transmission ECU reprogramming as a certain brake clutch disc may cause delayed disengagement when shifting to neutral. “This could lead to involuntary low-speed forward movement if the foot brake or parking brake is not applied, that may increase the risk of a collision,” the firm explained.
TMP said that the owners of the vehicle that are part of the recall order will be informed via an official notification letter. The reprogramming will be of no charge to clients.
“Involved customers with vehicles included in the service campaign are highly encouraged to immediately set an appointment with any authorized Toyota dealer to perform the necessary reprogramming of the automatic transmission ECU and prevent problems from occurring,” the TMP urged.
