Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), held its first Dealer Conference last month in a digital event that aims to boost SGAP’s ties with dealer partners.
In the said conference, SGAP laid its plans for the year ahead including programs and strategies to its partner dealers, uniting everyone in their goal to bolster the business. Present in the digital conference were SGAP and its dealers, Sojitz Corporation Tokyo, as well as officials from Geely Automobile International Corporation (GAIC). SGAP is the official distributor of Geely in the Philippines, whose brand was launched sometime in 2019. Geely is notable for models like the Coolray, Okavango, and Azkarra.
SGAP aims to drive a stronger market presence and continue the trend of increased sales. Setting its eyes to around 9,500 units out for this year, SGAP looks to have a fruitful 2021.
According to SGAP Sales and Marketing General Manager Froilan Dytianquin, “this will provide around 3% market share given that the new vehicle demand is forecasted to be at 300,000. This forecasted volume and market share will generally make Geely further climb up in the industry ranking.”
“2021 has presented its own challenges this year. Starting off with the imposition of additional safeguard tariff in most imported vehicles. This policy is seen to hurt majority of the automotive brands in the country, including us. But with our collaborative efforts, we will continue to deliver on our commitment to provide our customers better value for the ride they deserve,” said SGAP President & CEO Mikihisa Takayama as he expressed his confidence in the Geely brand.
In the same event, SGAP was recognized as Distributor of the Year in Marketing by Geely Automobile International Corporation (GAIC) for its exceptional sales performance despite the continuing Covid-19 pandemic and its restrictions. According to GAIC Deputy General Manager Jenny Jin, Geely has the highest export volume to the Philippines among all Chinese brands in 2020.
“On behalf of the company (GAIC), I would like to express my high respect and sincere thanks to all of you, our partners who worked hard to make positive contribution to the company’s development,” the GAIC Deputy General Manager added.
