SGAP opens Geely Makati on Chino Roces Ave.
Following the string of dealership inaugurations that effectively expanded its reach, the local arm for Chinese automotive manufacturer Geely rolled up its sleeves anew to build and open another facility — Geely Makati.
Situated at 2232 Don Chino Roces Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo), Geely Makati opened its doors Friday last Friday, March 26, making the brand more accessible to Makati residents and neighboring areas.
SGAP President and Chief Executive Officer Mikihisa Takayama said that the opportunity to open another dealership shows the Philippine market’s reception to the brand.
“It’s a good sign for the business that we are able to open another dealership in Makati under SGAP, following the rise of Geely’s flagship dealership in North EDSA in 2019. This is a welcome development for the business — an indicator that during this time of global struggle, our brand is being well-received by people and that we still manage to survive and thrive,” the SGAP chief said.
Geely Makati is the second dealership managed and operated by SGAP, with the first one being the premier Geely North Edsa showroom. It can be recalled the North EDSA outlet was opened to the public in September 2019, a few months after Geely authorized local distributorship to SGAP.
SGAP is one of the 400 subsidiaries of Japan-based Sojitz Corporation. The reintroduction of the brand to the market—after first being brought out in the open by Autochina—led to the Geely Coolray’s introduction to the local automotive scene.
Aside from the well-received subcompact SUV Coolray, Geely Makati is also expected to offer its full lineup such as Geely Azkarra compact SUV, and the Geely Okavango seven-seater mid-size crossover.
Despite only offering three nameplates, SGAP placed among the top 10 top-selling passenger vehicle brands in the Philippines.
Before the announcement of the government that placed again Metro Manila under enhanced community quarantine, the SGAP said that the new dealership is welcoming customers Mondays to Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Aside from the Geely Makati opening, SGAP also forged several partnerships with other dealer principal leading to the creation of Geely Davao, Geely Baliuag and Geely Cebu.
