Shell Fleet Solutions, Hertz PH team up for decarbonization thrust

The deal was formalized via the signing ceremony led by Shell Fleet Solutions Asia General Manager Veethara Trakulboon, Shell Fleet Solutions Philippines Country Business Manager Christopher Alli, and Hertz Philippines Managing Director Rene Limcaoco.
“Decarbonization is an important issue facing our customers today and, in the future,” Alli said. “Shell Fleet Solutions is here as a partner to provide a comprehensive strategy for the rapid decarbonization of fleets. A2Z is also designed to help customers achieve their decarbonization targets.”
For his part, Limcaoco expressed confidence in the joint decarbonization mission. “We are on the right track with Shell, with the same commitment to this goal. We are equally passionate in exploring mobility solutions to reduce our carbon footprint,” he stated.
To note, the A2Z program gives Hertz Philippines access to Shell Fleet Solutions’ sustainability offers that will help them reduce their carbon emissions through tracking fuel efficiency and compensate for unavoidable ones through the voluntary carbon offset program. As such, Hertz Philippines will be provided with tools to understand its carbon emissions, and with technology solutions that will both reduce and offset its carbon emissions.
Per Shell, Hertz Philippines started its A2Z journey with voluntary carbon offsetting that helps them counterbalance their fleet’s carbon emissions with carbon credits purchased by Shell for Hertz Philippines from a global portfolio of approved projects.
Shell will issue an annual retirement certification that confirms that the emissions have been compensated. Charges are applied to Hertz’s account and the company can continue to use Shell Card to top up. The energy giant noted that the certificate and process is externally verified and properly audited by a credible third-party company.
Shell also said that Hertz Philippines has been a long-time partner as the firm started using Fleet Cards for its fuel requirements since 2011.
“We at Hertz Philippines are really honored to be working together with Shell on this new project that is valuable not only to us, and not only to Shell, but is also a first step for future generations,” Limcaoco concluded.
