Where is the first Shell Recharge station?
The first Shell Recharge is at the company's Mamplasan station. How does the Shell NBS carbon offset services work?
PSPC explained that the total number of liters purchased with carbon offsets by customers are then assigned the equivalent carbon credits from Shell’s independently verified global portfolio of Shell NBS afforestation, reforestation, and conservation projects. In a statement, PSPC said that the two initiatives emphasized the company’s drive toward decarbonizing mobility by helping customers avoid, reduce, and compensate for carbon emissions, while becoming the mobility destination of choice for motorists.
Shell Mobility Global Executive Vice President Istvan Kapitany said that the launch is a testament to the growing range of offerings to motorists.
“The NBS Carbon Offset Service and Shell’s first EV charger in the country are among the initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and to cater to a growing number of customers whose needs are changing fast,” Kapitany said.
“We are making sure that Shell sites will become the go-to place for all customers, whether they drive traditional or EV, thanks to an integrated offer of fuel, EV, and convenience retail. They will be mobility destinations for everyone,” he added.
The oil giant said that the first Shell Recharge is at Mamplasan in Biñan, Laguna and will gradually roll out to more Mobility stations within the next 12 months. The aforementioned facility — located along the expressway — comes with two EV charging points with CCS2 connectors that can charge two vehicles simultaneously.
According to PSPC, each station can recharge an average EV to optimal battery levels in just 30 minutes (depending on the vehicle type and its corresponding battery management system).
On the other hand, the Shell NBS Carbon Offset Service will cover 100 sites (Shell Mamplasan included) by the end of year. To note, PSPC first offered the NBS Carbon Offset Service to its B2B fleet customers last year.
“By being the first Shell market in Asia to offer this particular service to everyday customers, Pilipinas Shell underscores its commitment to continue powering progress to achieve a more sustainable future,” PSPC Country Head Lorelie Quiambao-Osial said.
“These two new low-emission energy solutions encapsulate what Pilipinas Shell means when we say sustainability. It’s about providing energy in a responsible manner to our consumers so that we can minimize the impact we make on the environment while achieving a lower-carbon future,” she added.
For an additional fee, customers can opt to compensate for the equivalent carbon emissions from their fuel purchase.
“The total number of liters purchased with carbon offsets by customers are then assigned the equivalent carbon credits from Shell’s independently verified global portfolio of Shell NBS afforestation, reforestation, and conservation projects. These carbon credits are then retired by Shell on behalf of the customer,” PSPC explained.
