For the first time in its history, Kia will be releasing a Sportage model specifically designed for the European market. The South Korean automaker reveals the first official sketches of the upcoming Euro-spec Sportage ahead of its September world premiere.
According to Kia Europe, the Sportage has been redesigned in an attempt to establish new benchmarks in the segment while catering to the tastes of their European customers.
The Kia Sportage designed for the European market was built around the brand’s new “Opposites United” design language. The sketches reveal a bold front end with a reimagining of the iconic Tiger Nose Grille. Two boomerang-shaped LED DRLs (daytime running lamps) and matrix LED headlamps flank the large front fascia.
We also see sloping a black roof and a dynamic C-pillar that adds to the sportiness of Kia’s SUV.
At the rear, the new Sportage showcases LED combination lamps, the new Kia logo, and a unique black rear bumper.
The sketches that the company has revealed show us the exterior dimensions of what will be the fifth-gen Kia Sportage. And while we still can’t see its interior, the automaker says that it will push styling boundaries and set the tone for the next-gen Sportage lineup.
In addition, Kia said that the upcoming European-spec Sportage will feature “state-of-the-art connectivity tech, responsive yet highly efficient advanced powertrains, and the very latest passive, active and ADAS safety innovations.”
The all-new Kia Sportage will make its debut via a live virtual event on September 1 to be aired on Kia-owned channels where more information about the brand’s best-selling SUV will be revealed.
Sales will commence later this year.
