SMC ready for possible heavy traffic for election, Undas 2023
SMC (San Miguel Corporation) Infrastructure expressed its readiness in the possible congested traffic along expressways in line with the forthcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, as well as the “Undas” holidays.

The SMC Infrastructure-operated expressways are the South Luzon Expressway, (SLEX), Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), the Skyway System, NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) Expressway, and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).In a statement, the company urged motorists to plan their trips ahead should they be travelling today along South Luzon Expressway, (SLEX), Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), the Skyway System, NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) Expressway, and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
“This is in anticipation of heavy traffic volume, particularly motorists heading out of Metro Manila. In support of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) ‘Oplan Biyaheng Ayos’, which aims to provide our countrymen smooth and safe travels, SMC Infrastructure is putting in place a multitude of mitigating measures to help make motorists’ journeys more manageable and safe,” the company said in a statement.
“We have coordinated our traffic management plans with the Toll Regulatory Board, local government units, the police, the Land Transportation Office and other agencies. Emergency services such as fire trucks, ambulances, and towing trucks have also been readied and are on standby to provide immediate assistance to distressed motorists,” it added.
According to SMC Infrastructure, all road repairs and related activities that could slow down traffic flow at toll plazas, exits and expressways shall be suspended starting noontime today and will resume at 10 p.m. of November 5. In addition, more patrollers and toll personnel shall be deployed at exits and toll plazas.
Further, SMC Infrastructure reminded motorists to load up their Autosweep accounts and have their cards ready to reduce any possible cause of delay at toll plazas.
