It was in October last year when Suzuki Philippines’ (SPH) motorcycle division unveiled the V-Strom 250SX to the local market. Its local debut makes it the sole model being marketed in the 250 cubic-centimeter (cc) adventure category.
But is bringing in the model worth it? Here’s what Carmudi Philippines found out in the aforementioned offering after a trail ride in San Mateo, Rizal.
On the get-go, the Suzuki V-Strom 250SX immediately showcased its athletic persona through the signature beak-like design that is present in all the members of the V-Strom lineage. To give a brief background, the design was inspired from the legendary DR- Z racer and DR-Big off-road models.
Sitting on the saddle, I noticed that the ride height was perfect for those who are of tall stature. I — who is more than six feet tall — love how the motorcycle gives a nearly-standing position, which, in turn, gives me better riding confidence.
On a paved road, the Suzuki V-Strom 250SX is nimble (though a little heavy for its overall size and engine displacement) — especially for someone who is not much into off-road riding. Matching such capability is the Suzuki Eco Performance fuel-injected, four-stroke, single-cylinder four valve single overhead cam, 250cc mill that provides sufficient power to go relatively-steep inclines with ease.
Absorbing the bumps on various terrains and making it adventure-ready is the large front fork that has a 120-millimeter (mm) stroke and the seven-step adjustable rear suspension system.
Further, the Suzuki V-Strom 250SX’s 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels with a semi-block style pattern provided grip on and off the road, while stopping power that assures better rider control comes from the 310mm disc brake with master cylinder at the front and 240mm rear disc brakes fitted with dual channel anti-lock braking system.
Meanwhile, its engine under cowling protects the rides chassis while knuckle covers assure safety of the riders’ hands.
In addition, the motorcycle digital inverted instrument panel dishes out comprehensive ride information.
All in all, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX is perfect for those who are eyeing a tourer/adventure bike but are on a tight budget.
Offered in Champion Yellow and Glass Sparkle Black, the new Suzuki V-Strom 250SX is offered with a price tag of P229,000.
