The Toyota Raize is here, and in less than a week, Toyota will officially launch its affordable and versatile crossover SUV. It’s true that we’re still four days shy from February, but it looks like Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) just couldn’t wait.
The Raize page is now live on TMP’s website which means it’s now available for everybody to see. Interested to see just how good of a crossover the Raize is? Join us as we check out just what the Toyota Raize has to offer.
Outside, the Toyota Raize features plenty of sharp and aggressive angles — pretty much like the Raize released in Japan back in 2019 — making the middleweight crossover look like a tough contender. The range-topping variant get split-type LED headlights with LED sequential turn signals. Flanking its frowning grille are DRLs and halogen fog lamps. Round the rear are LED combination lamps, a rear spoiler, and a sharkfin antenna.
Those opting for the E variants can expect a similar exterior setup with the exception of the headlamps and the turn signals. The LED lights are replaced by standard halogen bulbs that denote their lower rank.
The range-topping 1.0 Turbo CVT variant gets a two-tone roof and 17-inch wheels while the other variants get a body-colored roof and 16-inch wheels.
Inside, the Raize looks surprisingly modern, especially when you consider its price range. Depending on the variant, you get either fabric seats, a urethane steering wheel, an Optitron instrument cluster, and an eight-inch audio display with four speakers or fabric seats with synthetic leather, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, and a nine-inch audio display with six speakers.
In addition, the higher trims levels get a tonneau cover, a foot lamp, a push start button, automatic A/C, and a keyless entry function.
The Toyota Raize can be had with either a 1.2-liter engine or with a 1.0-liter turbocharged mill. The former can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT while the latter is a CVT-only powertrain.
The 1.2-liter engine makes 87 horses while the turbocharged 1.0-liter engine makes a respectable 97hp.
Safety-wise, the E variants come standard with front SRS airbags, ABS, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, and an immobilizer. The higher G variant gets a rear monitor with guide lines while the top-of-the-line 1.0 Turbo CVT get a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and additional airbags (side and curtain shield).
Raize 1.2 E MT – P746,000
Raize 1.2 E AT – P816,000
Raize 1.2 G CVT – P906,000
Raize 1.0 Turbo CVT – P1,031,000
The Toyota Raize, deserves all the hype and the praise. With an affordable price range and a decent equipment package, the Toyota Raize is definitely a crossover SUV to look out for.
