SPH to bring Suzuki Gixxer SF 155?

Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) shall unveil a new Gixxer model, and it would probably be the SF155.

The assumption was based on the invitation sent to Carmudi Philippines that shows a shape of a fully-faired sports motorcycle covered in smoke. Per the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer’s local arm, the soon-to-be-revealed motorcycle shall have its public debut this Sunday (October 13).

In addition, such speculation holds water as the SF155 is the only offering in the Gixxer line that has yet to be retailed in the local market. 

Earlier, SPH Motorcycle Marketing Communications Group Head Edelyn Yanilla announced that the company will bring in a new product within the final quarter of 2024.

While waiting for SPH to officially confirm the details about its forthcoming offering, here are some specifications about the Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 in overseas markets.

Dimensions, aesthetics

In India, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 is 2,025 millimeters (mm) long; 715 mm wide; and 1,035 mm tall — with a 1,340-mm wheelbase and 165-mm ground clearance. It also weighs seven kilograms heavier than its street-sport bike counterpart.

Giving the motorcycle its distinct Gixxer identity are its front and rear illumination that are all on LED while providing the look similar to the Hayabusa are its:

•  Beak-like front fascia
• Fairings with Japanese character decals
• Rear tire hugger
• Split seat
• Twin muffler set-up

Sitting in between the Gixxer SF 155’s clip-on handlebars is the motorcycle’s digital gauge cluster that comes with the Suzuki Ride Connect feature.

Per Suzuki, the said technology allows riders to link their mobile devices via Bluetooth. Thanks to the said amenity, the gauge cluster screen shows the following:

• Call and message alerts and notifications
• Phone battery display
• Speed exceeding alert
• Navigation, and estimated time of arrival updates

Performance

Below the Suzuki Gixxer SF155’s tank is the 155-cubic centimeter four-cycle, single cylinder, single overhead cam, air-cooled, fuel injected gasoline engine that has the capacity to dish out 14 horsepower and 13.8 Newton-meters of torque. It is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. 

On the other hand, the motorcycle’s stopping power is assured by its front and rear disc brakes.

Meanwhile, the telescopic and swing arm suspension system — for the front and rear, respectively — are designed to provide Suzuki Gixxer SF155 riders a comfortable journey.

Probable price tag

Should SPH really bring in the Suzuki Gixxer SF155, its pricing will likely be above P104,900 that the Gixxer 155 is currently carrying.
