Spicy sedan: Hyundai shows teaser of Elantra N
Hyundai will spice up its Elantra compact sedan with the Elantra N, whose teaser photos were released by the Hyundai USA recently.
The Elantra N will join Hyundai's roster of performance N models, next to the Kona and Veloster N.
Hyundai described the upcoming sport compact car as wearing a "Parametric Dynamics" design theme, with curves and lines that give the car a "powerful and athletic stance."
The Elantra N’s racy details continue to the red side sills that channel airflow, and a rear spoiler that counteracts lift and increases driving stability at high speeds. Twin tailpipes peeking out the rear bumper, which are highlighted by black trim, show sporty intent.
The car will likely have stiffer suspension, larger brakes, and wheels wrapped in grippier rubber.
Just like the Kona and Veloster N, the Elantra N will also likely be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder and feature a dual-clutch automatic.
In the US, there's already an Elantra N-line model, which makes 201 horsepower from a turbo 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. That should give an idea how much more power the full-blown N will have.
With the introduction of Elantra N, Hyundai said it now offers a wider range of Elantra models, with the standard Elantra and Elantra Hybrid.
