As the spotlight focuses on the funky Stonic and Seltos, the Sportage has become an underrated model in Kia's lineup. But it shouldn't be.
One highlight feature of the Sportage is its two-liter diesel engine, which nets 185hp and 400Nm of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic. The SUV's other attractions include 19-inch alloys, LED exterior lights, and a spiffy interior carrying an eight-inch touchscreen with phone mirroring functions.
These features should make the Sportage stand out against its tall-riding peers, as well as vehicles in other segments. Priced from P1.29 to P1.82 million for its three variants, the Sportage matches a number of attractive crossovers, and even a sedan and a pickup, in the market.
Perhaps any talk about the Sportage isn't complete without its twin sibling. The Tucson shares the same diesel and gas engines with the Kia. Top-trim Tucsons feature a seven-inch display and an electric driver's seat. Entry-level cars get a 3.8-inch radio display and fabric seats.
You could say the top-variety Territory is a tech expo. It carries a panoramic moonroof, a 10-inch touchscreen with mirroring for Android and Apple phones, and wireless phone charging. The screen is used to control the air-conditioner, and to access the 360-degree view camera.
Sporty driving is the theme of this sedan. The Civic RS Turbo gets its name from a turbocharged 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine, which is good for 171hp and 220Nm of torque. An RS design spoiler and 18-inch Berlina Black RS alloy wheels, shod in low-profile tires, contribute to the sporty appearance.
Like many pickup trucks, the D-Max is more utilitarian than most SUVs. The D-Max's three-liter diesel, with 187hp and 450Nm of torque, can surely haul anything thrown in its bed. The four-wheel drive system is ready for rough terrain, while its six-speed manual adds to the truck's rugged nature.
Several used examples of this van doubles the Sportage's passenger count. At 5,115 millimeters long, the Grand Carnival is large enough to accommodate 11 people. A seven-seater version is also available. Both Grand Carnival vans use a suspension system that's been tweaked to give a comfortable ride.
