Subaru debuts US-spec 2024 Crosstrek with up to 182hp

The United States (US)-specification 2024 Subaru Crosstrek recently made its debut at the ongoing 2023 Chicago Auto Show.

Power, according to the automotive brand, will come from either a 2.0-liter engine or a more powerful 2.5-liter powerplant. Both Subaru boxer engines are said to be mated to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission, which gives the compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) a smooth and quiet performance.

Speaking of which, the former makes 152 horsepower while the latter puts out as much as 182 horses.

The SUV’s drivetrain is further enhanced with standard Active Torque Vectoring and the SI-Drive performance management system. Additionally, Subaru explained that the 2024 Crosstrek receives a version of the WRX’s dual-pinion electronic power steering rack, providing a more direct and natural steering feel and greater responsiveness.

Notable exterior features include a frameless hexagonal grille, compact headlights, a more sculptural body, and a broad-shouldered stance. Black wheel arch cladding and rocker panels provide a sharp contrast to the body color.

Per Subaru, the carmaker added functional aerodynamic improvements to enhance the 2024 Crosstrek’s performance and stability. These include air outlets on the trailing edge of the front wheel opening and on each side of the rear bumper.

Inside, Subaru packed the 2024 Crosstrek with more supportive front seats, a multi-functional steering wheel with paddle shifters, and two seven-inch screens for its infotainment system. Available is an 11.6-inch Subaru Starlink infotainment unit.

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek comes with a starting price of US$24,995 or P1.382 million. It will become available in the US in springtime (from March to June).
