Subaru EyeSight to be Introduced to PH Models in 2018
Subaru and Motor Image executives have confirmed that the Subaru EyeSight system will finally be introduced in certain Philippine-market models in 2018, six years after the technology was first used in Subaru vehicles in 2012.
In an interview with members of the media at the Philippine-market launch of the all-new Subaru XV, both Subaru Corporation's Senior Vice President and Chief General Manager of Overseas Sales and Marketing Division Katsuyuki Mizuma and Motor Image Enterprises' Regional Marketing Head Reza Mutalib confirmed that the Subaru EyeSight stereo camera system will officially be introduced in four models in its product lineup at the 2018 Manila International Auto Show: the Impreza compact sedan, Legacy midsize sedan, Levorg compact wagon, and Outback midsize crosssover.
The Subaru EyeSight system is comprised of a pair of dual color cameras mounted behind the rearview mirror that scans the road ahead for unanticipated dangers and, in worst case scenarios, reacts to the conditions before the driver even does--from keeping a safe distance to the car ahead and even adjusting the speed to maintain the distance based on the preselected distance to automatically reducing the power produced by the engine and applying the brakes in full force to minimize or even prevent a collision with the vehicle ahead from happening.
