Subaru narrowly misses 300K milestone in H1 2023

Subaru narrowly missed the 300,000-sales milestone in the first half of 2023.

The Japanese automotive brand reportedly sold 275,691 units worldwide from January-June this year.

Per Subaru, 50,304 units of the abovementioned number were sold domestically while the remaining 225,387 was the company’s overall export deliveries.

Further, the Shibuya-based brand said that the aforementioned Japan sales reflected a 9.3 increase while its global import sales translated to a 21.6 percent increase when compared to the same time frame in 2022.

Moreover, both the reported domestic and global figures show their first increase in two years.

For the month of June alone, Subaru sold a total of 60,113 cars.

7,703 of the said number were sold in Japan with 6,434 cars coming from the company’s passenger vehicles sales and the remaining 1,269 from its mini vehicles sales.

To note, Subaru’s Japan passenger vehicle sales increased year-on-year by 4.6 percent while its mini vehicle sales decreased by 0.2 percent.

Its export total for the month of June was 52,410 units and reflected a 34.8 percent increase compared to the same time frame last year.

Subaru did not say what models were among its top sellers. That said, the company’s local lineup consists of the Crosstrek, Outback, Forester, Evoltis (known as Ascent in other markets), WRX, and the BRZ.

Production-wise, Subaru said that it made a total of 445,460 vehicles from January to June this year. A total of 276,911 units were made from the company’s domestic factories while the remaining 168,549 were built outside of the country.

In June, Subaru assembled 82,835 cars overall with 57,196 of which coming from Japan and 25,639 coming from its overseas facilities.
