Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. (MIP), the exclusive distributor of
Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, will be launching a
more powerful version of its popular
Subaru Levorg wagon at the upcoming
2018 Subaru Festival this coming
September 22 to 23 at
9th Avenue in Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City. The launch will coincide with the
annual staging of the popular Subaru Palm Challenge at the same venue.
Putting out
264 hp on all four wheels, the
2.0-liter Levorg is essentially powered by the
same turbocharged FA20 boxer engine that resides under the hood of the
rally-bred WRX. With
Active Torque Vectoring technology, the new Levorg variant has better grip when braking or turning, especially on corners, and with Subaru's
EyeSight Driver Assist Technology as standard, driving Subaru's updated compact sport wagon is safer than ever. As MIP stated in its press release, "this rally car built for real life just got better!"
Beyond the new engine, Subaru also updated some bits of the 2.0-Levorg, starting with the
self-leveling and dusk-sensing LED headlights and
restyled front LED fog lights and bezels to go with the
redesigned 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels.
Inside, it gets a new
integrated seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and
contrasting blue stitching on the
leather-clad seats all around. And then there's the popular
SI-Drive engine management system that lets the driver select how the Levorg's powertrain performs through three different drive modes: Intelligent (I) for everyday driving; Sport (S) for enhanced acceleration; and Sport Sharp (S#) for an exhilarating drive.
While MIP has yet to release the price of the turbocharged 2.0-liter Subaru Levorg GT-S, it'll
probably breach the PHP2-million mark since the 1.6-liter Levorg currently retails for PHP1.888 million already.
EDITOR'S NOTE: MIP has released the price of the 2.0-liter Subaru Levorg and it's being sold at an amazing PHP1.998 million--a difference of PHP110,000 over the 1.6-liter variant and PHP10,000 less than the WRX it shares its engine with.
